Welcome to a refreshed AZ Advocacy Hub! Last week I sent out a fundraising request and I am so grateful to all of you who took the time to donate and share. I was able to raise $300 which was put into two things: a new domain for the Hub so you can find our calendar at azadvocacyhub.org AND a Canva Pro subscription so I can make visual flyers highlighting events. My hope is that our community members share the flyers on social media so we can get others to join the pro-democracy organizations putting on all of these events. I know times are hard right now for all of us, so thank you again for donating, sharing, and being here!

Hands Off Our Vote: Election Protection 201 Training · August 26 · Virtual. Indivisible's second August election protection training covers what to do if polling places close late, ballot counting gets blocked, or if disinformation starts moving through your own networks. Arizona is flagged as one of the states most at risk for election disruption this cycle, and the material is built for people with no election experience.

Call Sens. Gallego and Kelly about the CLARITY Act. The bill would hand crypto companies a friendlier regulator and strip ethics rules that stop officials from profiting off the industry they oversee. It stalled in August, but the Senate has a procedural vote set for September 15, and Sen. Gallego already voted to advance it in committee. Rural Arizona Engagement is building a team of volunteers to monitor polling locations and support a safe voting environment, starting at 4:00 PM. The session also covers keeping immigrant neighbors safe and reviewing strategies for identifying and responding to threats. Indoors, training provided, 90 minutes.

ICE Out of Home Depot Phoenix Protest · August 29 · Phoenix
The National Day Laborer Organizing Network gathers from 9:00 to 11:00 AM after agents raided the Home Depot at 36th and Thomas and took several workers. The demand is aimed at the company: stop letting raids happen on its property in silence. Outdoors, morning, two hours.

Pinal County Board of Supervisors Meeting · August 26 · Florence
The proposed La Osa Data Center is expected to come up when the board convenes at 9:30 AM. Rural Arizona Engagement is turning people out to observe and will have staff on site. Board meetings can run all day, so bring water and snacks.

No Denying Climate Change Town Hall with Rep. Yassamin Ansari · August 27 · Phoenix
Climate Action Campaign hosts from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on extreme heat, air quality, and energy affordability in the district, plus federal attacks on clean energy projects and climate science. The Phoenix location is confirmed to registrants five days out.

AZ AANHPI premieres its own film at 6:00 PM, shot in Guam days after Super Typhoon Sinlaku, connecting Pacific island storms to record heat and drought here.

Indivisible Northern AZ runs a hands-on 90-minute session starting at 5:00 PM. There is no script to memorize. You build your own story with the group and then practice a canvass conversation out loud. Indoors, evening, training provided, first-timer friendly.

Honest Arizona hosts a park swap from 8:30 to 10:30 AM for kids' and adult clothing, toys, and books. Bringing items is not required, light breakfast is provided, and lee@advancingaz.org can coordinate a pickup if you have a lot to donate. Outdoors, morning, kid friendly, refreshments.

Action Alerts

Write postcards to Native voters who need to update their registration. About 19,000 Native voters across Arizona's tribal lands need to update their registration before November. Arizona Native Democrats runs a self-service postcard program and is asking volunteers for 25 postcards each. The deadline is September 1, so this week is the window.

• What to do: Create an account on the Cardzilla portal, request a batch of 25 addresses and a script, then write and mail them before September 1.

Volunteer for the Arizona Election Defense Corps. With the primary behind us, Indivisible groups across Arizona, more than 57 statewide, are organizing to protect the general election. The Voting Rights Lab has flagged Arizona as one of the states most at risk for election disruption.

• What to do: Sign up with Civic Engagement Beyond Voting to monitor county Board of Supervisors meetings, watch drop boxes and polling locations, report voter suppression, or join rapid response. The program runs through the November 3 election and county certification.

Sign up for Hands Off Our Vote. The Senate confirmed election denier Jay Clayton as Director of National Intelligence, adding to the concerns already surrounding Arizona this cycle. This is the national program behind the training at the top of this issue, and joining it is separate from registering for any one session.

• What to do: Join the program through Indivisible for state voting deadlines, alerts on threats to voting rights, and rapid response calls to action.
