Hey all - I think pro-democracy activism is SERIOUSLY catching on in Arizona ... I pulled the weekly event numbers, and they have doubled in just one month. This week there are over 367 pro-democracy events from corner to corner across the state! These numbers come directly from mobilize and do not count the local one-off community events that get created off-the-web; so, I hope this brings a smile to your face, knowing the people are restless and doing something about it✊🤜🤛.

## If you only do one thing this week

[**Election Protection 101 Training**](https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/1000403?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) · August 19 · Virtual
Indivisible's Hands Off Our Vote program runs this Wednesday at 5:00 PM: how election protection work happens, and how to get ready for the fall. It starts with the common questions, so no prior experience is assumed, and Northwest Valley Indivisible is promoting it. The Voting Rights Lab lists Arizona among the states most at risk of election disruption this cycle, which is why this is a critical training.

## Five minutes or less

If you only have a few minutes but want to do more than one thing, these should be pretty quick!

- **Email Sen. Gallego and Sen. Kelly about the CLARITY Act.** The bill would hand crypto companies a friendlier regulator and strip ethics rules that stop officials from profiting off the industry they oversee. It stalled before recess for lack of votes, the Senate returns September 14, and Sen. Gallego already voted to advance it in committee. [Background and an email option here](https://act.indivisible.org/sign/urge-democrats-oppose-and-stop-trumps-crypto-corruption/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org).
- **Tell the Peoria Unified School Board what you think about the books it removed.** The district pulled Frederick Douglass's *Narrative*, *A Raisin in the Sun*, and *Summer of the Mariposas* from its English curriculum as boards returned for the new school year. The board plans to reconsider their decision and need to hear from you. Secular AZ tracks school board decisions statewide and is collecting responses at [info@secularaz.org](mailto:info@secularaz.org).

Arizona Advocacy Hub is one person. I'm June, and I've published over 50 issues, highlighted over 100 orgs, managed 6 social media accounts, shared over 1,000 events, built a filterable statewide calendar, and kept all of it free to everyone in Arizona. Paid subscriptions bring in about $500 a year, which doesn't cover hosting and tools, let alone the hours. If you can spare a few dollars a month, a paid subscription is what makes it sustainable. If you can't, forwarding an issue to one person helps too. ✌️
