Welcome, and thanks for being here, my favorite Sunburnt and Stubborn activists!

October 7 is the first day of early voting, and groups around the state have been busy making fun plans: When We All Vote parties in San Luis, Phoenix and Tucson, coffee after voting in Bisbee, and free rides to the polls starting in Cottonwood and Show Low. To end the week with a grand celebration, the Phoenix Pride parade and festival will be on October 11 so mark your calendars and be sure to come out.

**Important Deadlines**: Voter registration closes October 5 at 11:59 PM. Early ballots go out and in-person early voting begins October 7 & runs through October 30\. The last day to request an early ballot is October 23 so be sure to put in your request today.

## If you only do one thing this week

[**Phonebanking to Get Out the Early Vote**](https://www.mobilize.us/csv/event/1039673/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) · October 10 · Virtual
Copper State Victory runs an online phone bank from 9:00 AM to noon, calling voters in the first week ballots are out. More three-hour shifts follow through 9:00 PM on October 10 and 11, and [weekday shifts](https://www.mobilize.us/csv/event/1041158/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) run 3:00 to 6:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM October 7 through 9\. A [Spanish-language listing](https://www.mobilize.us/csv/event/1039674/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) runs on the same schedule. After sign-up an organizer reaches out to get callers set up, and the Zoom link is sent once a volunteer is confirmed. *Virtual, statewide.*

## Five minutes or less

☐ **Register or update your registration by October 5.** Registration closes at 11:59 PM, and anyone who has moved or changed their email needs the record to match. Update at [AZVoterRegistration.com](https://azvoterregistration.com/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org). If something goes wrong registering or voting, the Election Protection hotline is 866-OUR-VOTE, with 888-VE-Y-VOTA in Spanish and 888-777-3831 for Native voters.

☐ **Request your early ballot, then track it.** Ballots start going out October 7 and the request deadline is October 23\. Check your registration and Active Early Voter List status at [my.arizona.vote](https://my.arizona.vote/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org), and sign up for ballot status alerts at [Trackmyballot.azsos.gov](https://trackmyballot.azsos.gov/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) so there is time to fix a problem. Mail ballots already travel as first class mail and need no extra stamp.

## ****Quick Action Alerts**

☐ **Find or host a No Kings: Vote Early event on October 17.** The No Kings coalition's next national day of action is built around early voting: walks to the polls, block parties, voting-plan help and rallies, held while early ballots are already out.

- **What to do:** Find an Arizona event or register one of your own on the map at [NoKings.org](https://www.nokings.org/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org).

☐ **Read the fine print on Props 320, 318, 144 and 142.** Save Our Schools Arizona says these four measures, all referred to the ballot by the legislature, carry titles that do not describe what they do. Prop. 320 would force large districts to spend at least 60 percent of their operating budget on direct instruction or lose Classroom Site Fund dollars, and Prop. 144 would write a voter ID requirement for in-person and mail ballots into the state constitution.

- **What to do:** Read the Legislature's official [analyses of the 2026 ballot measures](https://www.azleg.gov/ballot-measures-2026-analyses/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) and the Prop. 320 details at [NoOn320.com](http://noon320.com/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) before filling out the ballot. More guides are on the Hub's [voter guides page](https://azadvocacyhub.org/resources?ref=newsletter).

☐ **Check the judges before you vote on retention.** Voters in Maricopa, Pima, Pinal and Coconino counties decide whether sitting judges keep their seats. Civic Engagement Beyond Voting's 2026 Gavel Watch report gives a recommendation and its reasoning for each judge up for retention.

- **What to do:** Read the [Gavel Watch report](https://www.cebv.us/storage/16634/a1d18de6-b5ce-4d86-85e9-a43188a17912/2026%5Fgavel%5Fwatch%5F-%5Fcorrected.pdf?ref=azadvocacyhub.org) before filling out the judicial section of the ballot.

☐ **Volunteer as a poll monitor with Election Protection Arizona.** The nonpartisan coalition is recruiting volunteers statewide to stand outside vote centers and polling places and spot and report problems through November 3.

- **What to do:** Sign up for an in-person or Zoom training at [ElectionProtectionAZ.org](https://www.electionprotectionaz.org/?ref=azadvocacyhub.org). Volunteers get full instructions and are matched with a polling place shift, and most work in pairs.
