Sunburnt, stubborn, and running lean
Hi all,
Arizona Advocacy Hub started about a year and a half ago as a way for Arizonans to find each other and find local ways to take action. At first, it was mostly just a community on Reddit. The newsletter and website came later, when I realized people wanted this information coming to them every week instead of having to hunt for it.
And honestly, it's grown way beyond what I expected!
- 52 issues of Sunburnt & Stubborn, published weekly.
- 2,515 events shared, from protests and phone banks to town halls and volunteer shifts.
- 103 Arizona organizations highlighted.
- More than 12,000 Arizonans have engaged with this work, including many people in rural communities who use the Hub to get informed and involved.
The newsletter brings in about $500 a year through subscriptions. I'm incredibly grateful for that, but it doesn't come close to covering the costs of running the Hub — or the time that goes into it.
So... I started a fundraiser =D
The first goal is $1,800, which will cover some of the basic costs of keeping everything running. The full goal is $5,000, which would give me a little more breathing room to keep growing the Hub and reaching more people.
The money goes toward things like the Ghost platform, Canva, the virtual calendar, outreach, and yes, supporting the time I put into doing this every week.
If you want to see the numbers before deciding whether you'd like to contribute, I've put the stats here:
And just so I'm completely transparent: Arizona Advocacy Hub isn't a registered nonprofit yet, so donations are not tax-deductible. That's something I'm working toward, and I'll let you know when that changes.
If donating isn't in the cards right now, that's totally okay. Sharing the fundraiser helps, too. A huge number of people find the Hub because someone they know sent them a link.
And seriously, thank you for being here. Thank you for reading, sharing, showing up, and doing something when it's easier to just scroll past.
All politics is local, and so is the resistance. ✌️
